Covid – 19: Travelling in the EU

Is this the end of the covid-19 pandemic? Can we travel around Europe without restrictions and covid passports?

Re-open EU provides information on travel and health measures in EU and Schengen Associated countries (Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway, Switzerland) during the COVID-19 pandemic. The platform helps you exercise your right to free movement, while staying safe and healthy. Information is updated frequently and available in 24 languages.

Consult the page on the ‘EU Digital COVID Certificate’ (EUDCC) to learn who can obtain it and how. National health authorities are in charge of issuing the certificate.

EU countries have agreed on a revised coordinated approach to the restriction of free movement in response to the coronavirus pandemic. This is now based on the individual situation of travellers – whether or not they hold a valid ‘EU Digital COVID Certificate’. The colour-coded map shows the epidemiological situation of EU regions.

Note: EU countries are expected to apply measures to discourage non-essential travel from dark red areas. They can also implement further restrictions on free movement to protect public health.
