Will we spend Christmas in the snow this year? Click on the “White Christmas Forecast 2025” map to see the probability of snow.
As Christmas 2025 approaches, many are wondering if they’ll wake up to a snowy wonderland on December 25. The whitexmas.app map estimates the probability of snow in various regions of the world. Simply enter a location in the search box or hover over the map. The definition of a “Snowy Christmas” is simple: at least 1 cm of snow on the surface on the evening of December 24th.
The map uses historical data, current climate simulations, and machine learning algorithms to predict where Christmas might be truly “white.” At the beginning of December, it relies heavily on climatological data from the last 20 years. As we approach the 16-day forecast window, the app shifts its focus to forecasts, and from December 21st, it switches entirely to radar models.
Historically, northern regions like Scandinavia, parts of Canada, the US Rockies, and the Upper Midwest have the best chances, while southern Europe, the US South, and coastal areas rarely see snow on Christmas Day.
For real-time 2025 predictions, meteorologists note that current models suggest warmer-than-average conditions across much of the US, potentially reducing odds in many areas this year. However, higher elevations and northern latitudes could still deliver the magic.
