Recent years, and above all, the coronavirus pandemic has changed the way we pay, bringing a massive shift to digital and contactless payments. Currently, more and more people use payment cards and cashless technologies. According to data from Juniper Research, over the next five years, more than half (53%) of global card transactions will be made without using the conventional chip and PIN method. On the Mercahant Machine map, we can see what the contactless card limits look like in 131 countries.

Here are some curiosities:

  • Venezuela has the highest limit – USD 272.02, or about PLN 1,200;
  • The five countries with the highest limit are in Asia, led by Japan, where contactless payments can be made up to $151.08.
  • Great Britain has the largest limit in Europe – about PLN 530 (USD 120.65);
